How to Set Up Your PalmHost Business Email

Set up your PalmHost Business Email

PalmHost Business Email gives you a private mailbox using your own domain. Each mailbox has its own email address, login, password and storage quota, with 5 GiB of storage per mailbox.

There are two ways to manage your mailbox, depending on the type of Business Email service you have.

Create or manage your mailbox

If you have Business Email as an email-only service

  1. Log in to your PalmHost Client Area.
  2. Select Manage Mailboxes.
  3. Use the mailbox management area to create or manage the mailbox provided with your service.

The Manage Mailboxes option is available to customers with Business Email services that use the Client Area mailbox management workflow.

If your email is included with PalmHost hosting

  1. Log in to your PalmHost Client Area.
  2. Open Services.
  3. Select Manage Service for your hosting service.
  4. Select Login to Control Panel.
  5. In the hosting panel, open Email.
  6. Create and manage the mailbox for your domain from the email management area.

If you are unsure which mailbox management method applies to your service, check your PalmHost service details or contact Support through the Client Area.

Your mailbox login

Your mailbox has its own login credentials. These are separate from the email address and password you use to access the PalmHost Client Area.

Keep your mailbox password private and do not include it in support tickets or other messages.

Access your email in a browser

You can access PalmHost email through webmail using your domain's webmail address:

https://yourdomain.co.za/webmail

Replace yourdomain.co.za with your own domain name.

Your webmail address will redirect to the PalmHost webmail service. Sign in using your mailbox email address and mailbox password.

Use email on your phone or computer

You can also connect a compatible phone, tablet or computer to your PalmHost mailbox using an email application that supports IMAP and SMTP.

Your email application will require the mailbox address and password, together with the appropriate PalmHost mail server settings.

Secure connection options are available. Use the connection details supplied for your PalmHost service rather than guessing the server or port settings.

Before you start using your email

If your domain or email service has recently been created or changed, allow time for the required DNS information to become available. DNS changes can be affected by caching and propagation, so email-related changes should not be expected to take effect everywhere immediately.

If you are moving email from another provider, the migration of existing messages is a separate process. Moving to PalmHost does not automatically move historical messages from your previous email provider.

If you cannot access your mailbox

Check that you are using the mailbox address and mailbox password rather than your PalmHost Client Area login details.

If you are using an email application, also check that the mail server and connection settings match the settings supplied for your PalmHost email service.

If you still need help, contact PalmHost through Support in your Client Area. Include the email address affected and any error message you receive.

Do not include your mailbox password or other confidential credentials in a support ticket.
