Register a domain through PalmHost
You can search for a domain name and register an available domain through PalmHost. The domain search on the PalmHost website checks the available domain extensions and then takes you through to the PalmHost Client Area to complete the order.
Search for your domain
- Open the Domain Registration page on the PalmHost website.
- Enter the domain name you want to register.
- Select the domain extension, such as .co.za or another available extension.
- Select Search.
The search will show whether the domain is available to register.
PalmHost's domain search only displays domain extensions that are currently active and available for registration through the ordering system.
Select an available domain
If the domain is available, select the option to continue with the registration.
Check the spelling of the domain name carefully before continuing. A domain registration is for the exact domain name you selected, so make sure it is the name you actually want to use.
Continue to the PalmHost order system
After selecting an available domain, you will be taken to the PalmHost Client Area order system at my.palmhost.co.za.
The domain you searched for is carried through to the order process so that you can continue with the registration.
Complete the order
- Review the domain name and extension in your order.
- Review the registration details and charges shown.
- Enter or confirm your customer details if required.
- Complete the order.
- Complete payment using the payment option provided for the order.
Review the order carefully before completing it, particularly the domain name, registration period and amount due.
What happens after registration?
Once the domain registration has been successfully processed, the domain will be associated with your PalmHost account.
You can manage your PalmHost services and invoices from the Client Area. Domain-related DNS settings for a domain hosted with PalmHost are managed through the hosting panel.
If you are also using PalmHost web hosting, the domain can be connected to the hosting service so that it can be used for your website and other services.
Domain registration and web hosting are separate
Registering a domain does not by itself create a website. A domain is the address used to reach your website or other online services, while web hosting provides the environment where your website is hosted.
You can therefore register a domain first and add web hosting separately if you need it.
Check your domain after registration
After your registration has been completed, check the domain and the services you intend to use with it.
If you are connecting the domain to PalmHost hosting, make sure the domain's DNS settings point to the correct service. DNS changes may take time to propagate because DNS information can be cached by different resolvers.
If the domain search or order does not work
If a domain appears available but you cannot complete the order, check the order details and try again.
If you encounter an error during the ordering or registration process, contact PalmHost through Support in your Client Area and provide the domain name and any error message shown.
