How to Create an Email Account for Your Domain

Updated 1 week ago 8 views

Create an email account for your domain

If your domain is hosted with PalmHost, you can create and manage email accounts from your hosting panel. This is the normal process for customers using PalmHost web hosting.

If you use PalmHost Business Email as an email-only service, mailbox management works differently. Business Email customers create and manage their mailboxes from the Manage Mailboxes section of the PalmHost Client Area. This applies specifically to customers using the Business Email service without web hosting.

Web hosting customers: open the hosting panel

  1. Log in to your PalmHost Client Area.
  2. Select Services.
  3. Open the hosting service associated with your domain.
  4. Select Manage Service.
  5. Choose Login to Control Panel.
  6. Open Email in the hosting panel.

The email area contains the tools available for managing email on your hosted domain.

Create the mailbox

  1. Open the email management area for your domain.
  2. Choose the option to add or create an email account.
  3. Enter the email address you want to create.
  4. Set a secure password for the mailbox.
  5. Confirm the mailbox details and create the account.

For example, if your domain is example.co.za, you could create an address such as [email protected].

Choose a secure password

The mailbox password is separate from your PalmHost Client Area password. Use a unique password for each mailbox and avoid reusing passwords from other services.

You will need the mailbox password when setting up the account in webmail or an email application.

Access the mailbox through webmail

Once the mailbox has been created, you can access it through webmail using your domain's webmail address:

https://yourdomain.co.za/webmail

Replace yourdomain.co.za with your actual domain name.

The webmail address redirects to the PalmHost webmail service. Sign in using the email address and mailbox password you created.

Business Email customers

If you are using PalmHost Business Email as an email-only service, do not create the mailbox from the hosting panel.

Instead:

  1. Log in to your PalmHost Client Area.
  2. Select Manage Mailboxes.
  3. Use the mailbox management options provided there to create and manage your Business Email mailboxes.

The Manage Mailboxes option is available to customers who have the Business Email service.

After creating the mailbox

Once the mailbox exists, you can use it through webmail or configure it in a compatible email application such as Outlook.

You will need the mailbox address, password and the appropriate PalmHost mail server settings when configuring an email application.

If the mailbox does not work

If you have just created a mailbox and cannot access it, first check that the email address and password are correct.

If you are using an email application, also check that you are using the correct server settings and connection type for PalmHost email.

If the problem continues, contact PalmHost through Support in your Client Area and include the affected email address and any error message you receive. Do not include your mailbox password in a support ticket.
